Ghost of the Wind

Sweet sun-kissed leaves
Shining gold and fierce
Moonlight wavering
Stars shining bright
The gravel shards of rock rest
Next to dark, burned grass
The coolness in the night air
Slips past, a ghost of wind
And I feel you leave
You now are gone
Down that once-sunny lane
Away forever
And never again will you run
Down that path, your happy place
Never will you shout to me, laughing
Smiling, happy yet sweaty
Never, because you have gone
And gone you'll stay
Not even as close
As the ghost of the wind
