Giving In

As we go to bed at night
All the pain melts away as we turn out the light
The day starts to drift away as I give in to you
In defeat in these twisted sheets as the night becomes a blurry hue,
My mind and body under your wicked spell
As you read every expression and sound, only you can read me well
I lay falling asleep in between uneasy and peaceful bliss
Unsure how I feel that you are still here for me to kiss,
Not to wonder where you went when the sun rises
But you continue to be full of surprises
As the sun starts to shine into my room so bright
You are whispering in my ear and wrapped around me so tight
Not wanting this magical moment to end as I fall back to sleep
Unsure of the consequences of reality I am about to reap
You awake me from my peaceful slumber
To take you home and leave me to wonder,
What it would be like if I had you like this every night
Instead of after a very rare fight

This Poems Story

My name is Morgan Lee. I'm nineteen and have been writing poetry for two years. Currently I go to Loyola University, Chicago, studying biology pre-med with minors in neuroscience and entrepreneurship. Writing poetry is something I discovered when I quit sports and is now one of my favorite hobbies. I love my family and friends and teachers who have been very encouraging and supporting. This poem was inspired by someone who is a great guy and we had a lot of fun together, but the conflicts of our relationship didn't work. It was kind of like the right person at the wrong time, but it was great while it lasted.
