Glass Shard

You're like a jagged shard of glass
You've stuck yourself into my heart
Feels like the sting of a dart
As much as you hurt me
I cannot remove this shard of glass
It tears at my heart
And turns it into a beating, bleeding mess
I tried to remove it once
And when I did
It felt better for a while
But that was just me being in denial
It had left a hole that I could not fill
Even after all this time
Thinking about when I removed it still makes me ill
So instead again I found the shard
Never again will I ever discard
In my heart you will stay
Be with me every single day
The hole is gone
And I still bleed
But that's okay
Because you're something I will always need
