Glazed

There are whispers from all around
Don't leave, they say
Stay
They push pencils and colors at my chest
Pulling my arms, holding my legs
Let us play, they say
They want faces, a body, personality
A story to go along
Friends, family, and maybe even a lover
They want me to join
Run with them; indulge myself into their adventures
Like ponds into new world
My mind slipping into their realm
They tug and pull
Their grip strong yet gentle
They cry and beg
Don't go! Please stay! Stay another day!
I feel for them, holding out a hand
I will come again, I cry, I promise!
Their faces darkening, fading away; sand in wind
My eyes no longer glazed.
