Yaffa Slurzberg

It's amazing what a glimmer of light can do
The instant u see it, all the angst dissolves
It built and built inside your chest, your abdomen, your neck and shoulders
Stiffening and churning and tightening
There was no hope
You could not bear
You were just waiting
And then when you least expect it....
That's when it brings the most joy
Yes joy
I felt joy as I stood on the hot stuffy subway platform
At that late hour;with the commuters and night owls
And the man playing the trumpet for a spare dollar
It was that unexpected moment of bliss
As the glimmer of light from the subway train began to shed its first threads of light on the rail
It's that light that gave me joy
