I find myself here when I’m lost,
Where even the shadow doesn’t keep company.
In the dark is where I’ll be frost,
It’s me and my breath, who’s the enemy?

All my sins are silenced,
And within me lies the culprit.
My ears ache because the sirens,
But who knew silence is a hypocrite?

Nothing to hide from, they’ve got,
They’re with the criminal itself.
Accepting themselves is how they’ll rot,
Getting dust on, high up on the shelf.

Had I known it isn’t safe there,
I wouldn’t keep going back to it.
These thoughts never fail to scare,
Leaving me to question myself if I fit.

Quit trying to fit in; society is a glitch,
To everyone they say that it’s all fine.
But it’s the truth which’ll always itch,
That dark is where they’ll all shine.
