God Holds the Key

My mind is a battlefield from time to time
Wrestling with memories and dreams
I close my eyes seeking refuge
That doesn't work it seems
So I lock myself in my car
And I go for a silent drive
Trying to outrun haunting visions
Looking for refuge to hide
Then I realize I cannot outrun the past
No matter where I go
But I can lean upon God
And the answers He will show
He will heal my damaged heart
My pain He will erase
The tears I cry inside
God will lock away in His storeroom case
When the dreadful memories come once again
I will hold my head up high
For God holds the key
To the comfort and peace I need inside
