God’s Canvas

While walking through yon woods one day
I saw a deer and fawns at play
A sun-bleached field with waving corn
Paying homage to the breaking morn

As sunlight dappled through the trees
Their leaves were dancing in the breeze
The music that they seemed to hear
Is not perceptible to human ear

A pond of water mostly still
A great white heron with a fish in its bill
The mournful cry of a beautiful dove
Missing its mate with a cry of love

These things I can hear
These things I can see
What a beautiful palette
He's laid out for me

God is the painter that creates these scenes
From the lovely lilac to the emerald green
All shades and colors He supplies
To create a feast right before our eyes

The resplendence of color
That He shares with us
A dazzling landscape
From morning till dusk
