When a flame has lost its luster
It never burns the same
A heart grows colder
So it doesn't feel the pain
Beautiful eyes turn to look another's way
Tears shed, once fell like never ending rain
Now dry into an ocean of desert sand
From lips never a word spoken again
Sitting emotionless as time slipped away
Yesterday's folly brought us
Today's sorrow and tomorrow's pain
Wearing these scars on our hearts
Hoping they don't show
Concealing the secret we both hold
We'll never love another quite the same
We'll always wonder and never know
All was lost
Nothing was gained
Except these memories that can never be changed
