Now you have left,
I miss the harshness
In which you dragged me
From nothing to less than.

But I am grateful
For the fleeting softness
It imparted on you,
And thus me.

For I got to know you
In those last days.
As you knew me,
In my innocence.

And whilst you were cruel,
As was I.
And whilst you were kind,
As was I.

You are gone now.
And in your stead,
I will no longer be dragged,
I will rise.
