Goodbye to Summer

Roses are red
Violets are blue
As summer passes by
I bid thee adieu
I slept among the stars
I warmed beneath just one
I danced with fireflies
I've hardly just begun
I heard music without a tune
I saw colors you couldn't see
I tasted life much more than sweet
I pondered all I could be
I find the fall tastes crisp
I touch the crisp of free
I want my free to grow
I want to grow for me
Next year, while greeting summer
Next time, I'll pass anew
Next time, a year much wiser
Next time, new goals to pursue
