Goodbye to the Rain

It’s crazy how your mood can change within a single instance
How leaves fall from atop the trees with almost no resistance
How love persists no matter how far the distance
Or the amount of disappointment

Jealousy transcends despite the satisfaction
A tiny jab of pain with every interaction
A hole gaping wider by the second, by the fraction
Until there’s nothing left

But the disappearance hurts more than pain
When there’s no more to lose and there’s no more to gain
When revenge becomes the goal and all becomes insane
Because everything you want is gone

You loved too hard and you pushed too much
The purest heart broken with just a gentle touch
The tears beating down, beating faster, being rushed
While you whisper goodbye to the rain
