Gossamer Wings

There's a fairy flying
Through magical skies
With gossamer wings
Delicately spreading dreams
Across cotton candy minds
Whose invisible to the jaded eye

Ring around the rosies
Pocketful of posies
Ashes to ashes
They all fall down

As dreams freefall in between daisies
That dance along tar baby streets
Where pony tailed laughs are heard
Outside cookie cutter houses
Where they catch cosmic dust
On the tips of their tiny tongues

Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake
Baker's man
Bake me a cake
As fast as you can

Suddenly calm steals over the playground
Their eyes turn up to the sun wiggling its nose
Magically transforming the blue sky
Into an endless black cosmic sea
That winks sparkles from above
Onto their hopscotch visions

London Bridge is falling down
Falling down falling down
London Bridge is falling down
My fair lady

Alas the moon calls final curfew
Turning their playground into a pumpkin
That can no longer bear the weight of
Giggling bodies twisting around inside jump ropes
Beneath limbs swinging freely from monkey bars
So like little birds, they fly back to their nests

To sleep, baby, sleep
As thy papa guards the sheep
While thy mama shakes the dreamland tree
And from it fall sweet dreams for thee
