Grandma

I feel like everything inside of me has been broken
Shattered into a million pieces,
Left rattling in what remains of my soul.
My mind is disjointed,
My eyes are sightless to the world,
I wander alone in the darkness of my melancholy.
I plead for your return,
I implore the heavens to join you,
My requests go unheeded in the twilight.
I remain here in this moment of dusk,
On my face, a trail of tears I have sobbed.
I whimper softly into the wind.
I’m not ready to say goodbye
