Grandmas Heart

By Crystal

It has been two and a half years since you've been gone,
since our Savior called you to his heavenly home.
What you left behind was a life time of memories that is impossible to forget,
memories we proudly share with your grands so that they know to us, how much you meant.
You were giving, a firm disciplinarian, a social butterfly and a woman of God,
not too affectionate, but you showed some of your affection through a basic head nod.
You opened your heart to those in need,
to give advice, tough love and to feed.
Everyone knew you by your name that was attached to your generosity, attitude and spirit,
it was so infectious that everyone wanted to be near it!!
You left behind 11 children, some which bare your likeness and are just like you,
from their mannerisms, facial expressions and other things they do.
One thing that will always be known that we have known since the start,
we ALL have a priceless piece of Grandmas Heart!!!

This Poems Story

This poem is about my paternal grandmother who fought a long battle after having a massive stroke. She was rendered paralyzed on one side and left incapable of providing for herself. She developed dementia and eventually succumbed to other illnesses after 13 years of having the stroke. She was the glue to the family and is highly missed!!
