Grandmother

She wishes to live by the ocean,
Brings herself forward with peace,
Would never even hurt a fly,
Her kindness spreads like fog,
She is my grandma.

Her love for me is so strong,
I wish she didn’t live so far,
But I know she would still do anything for me,
My grandma is just like me.

We spend our time together at the sea,
As the sun goes down we look for shells,
When the day rises again we walk on the shore,
My grandma tells me her stories,
She wishes to hear mine as well.

Beach, you are just like her,
There is so much to you,
Always a new surprise,
Calm in the evening,
Determined, dramatic, and daring during the day.

I see her within you,
But I also see my reflection,
I can find myself when I venture further in you,
One day you’ll help me understand who I am.
