Grandpa

The phone rings
It's news no one wants to hear.
It's so shocking, there's no time to think.
The tears stained on the faces of the ones you love
All you want to do is take away the pain.
The memories and places you've been and had
All come rushing back in that split second you see him.
Lying there.
Breathless.
You can't speak, you can't see clearly
You want it all to end but it doesn't.
You go back the next day and the one after that.
Fast forward and he's in the ground
And your all left with is sadness.
Deep, darkening, sadness.
