Granularity

As sand we exist
pulled in and sucked out for a living
sometimes a person or two will build us up like a castle
and some time or another, we fall apart again
constantly suffering for a moment without change
suffering for a moment of silence
when all we can hear is the roar of the waves
waves of hopes, desires, and other things terrifyingly stressful
crashing on us
we contemplate our fate so much that we swallow up our own dreams
we wait for the waves to stop
but they rest for nothing, especially not a grain of sand
after years of suffering the high tides, we drown in clarity
a horrible clarity revealing who we've become
or maybe just revealing who we no longer are.
