Great Parents

Once there were two angels in my life,
That raised me above the everyday strife,
Many memories that warm and tug at my heart,
Sometimes break into reality and give me a start,
I am taken back to another time and place,
That can't be destroyed and can't be erased,
They protected me with tender loving care,
Their presence was a shelter rare,
The fishing, the picnics, all the vacations,
Long, exhausting, fun trips to see relations,
The sharing, the caring, how fast flew the years,
Sometimes we'd fight, or laugh, or cry,
We were so alike you and I,
All you taught me helped me grow,
And for the rest of my life,
Your love to the world I'll show,
Even though now you're in heaven today,
In your protection and love I'll stay,
Wait for me and we will be together someday.
