Growing up

From being in mom's lap all hours,
To the time we started crawling,
To hold our dad's finger and take our first step ,
We were all growing up.
From making babbling sounds,
To the first word we spoke,
We didn't realise when
Books replaced our toys,
And when we also joined the 'rat race',
Our childhood slowly faded away
And eyes started dreaming the future.
We were growing up.
The time slipped away like sand,
That we grew old enough
To face this works without holding dad's finger,
And hiding behind mom.
We were growing up .
We all grew up in a way,
When we made our parents smile
And mature enough to say adieu to them with a smile.
And then one day again ,
A little hand held my finger, childhood was back again.
