Grown

You all planted me
Covered me up and watched me grow
Into a big tree with green leaves
Proud and tall at seventeen
The leaves tell away as autumn came
I realized I can't move just sway
I'm the cold wind of a winter that has no end
Until spring came and I flourished again
Then those who helped me grow
Took axes and slashed into a beauty unknown
Because it wasn't the same as homegrown
Then the winter with no wind came along again
But I didn't sway in the cold, cold wind
I'd fallen into the dirt as others trampled on my worth
And you say you know how it is to hurt?
