Guilty

I know the consequences,
It's a kind of relief,
I can never return to my senses.

For she assumed all the pretenses
The worst was yet to be revealed,
I know the consequences.

She fluttered around in her pretty dresses,
Not knowing the detrimental end that lie ahead,
I can never return to my senses.

Her pretty blue eyes were so intense,
It broke my heart when she met her end,
I know the consequences.

She gazed up at me oh so pensive,
Not knowing it was I, who sentenced her to death,
I can never return to my senses.

I could see the tension
Rise on her face as she realized what I had done.
I know the consequences,
I can never return to my senses.
