Hands of Love

Hands that held books and made doll dresses,
Hands that cooked and cleaned up my messes.when I learned to walk.
Hands that disciplined and gave caresses,
Hands that bandaged knees and curled my tressses.
Hands that played baseball and wiped my nose,
Hands that played piano and folded clothes.
Hands that shoveled cement and arranged flowers,
Hands earnestly praying countless hours.
She learned sign language so her hands could talk,
I held those hands when I learned to walk.
Everyone she knew by those hands were blessed,
Hands scarred and calloused now lay at rest.
Diligent hands at whatever task,
Now held by the nail-scarred hands at last.
