Happy Birthday

Remember me on your birthday,
because I won't be there.
I won't have presents for you, only wishes.

I wish for you the mountains and the sea,
to always walk and swim happily
through every storm and sunlight,
to travel lightly through life
carrying your burdens with courage and elan,
walking paths of beauty too deep to say.

I won't be there, but I'll be thinking of you,
dreaming happiness for you to somehow inherit from me
on the wind that blows my love to you.

Be happy children.
be happy teenagers,
be happy grownups,
spreading my delight in you all around.

Those are my wishes for you.
I hope to see every one come true.
