Haunted House

I stand alone in the dark
No one wants to be my friend
My appearance frightens them,
Even though my whispers invite them in

My windows clatter
My floors screech like a child crying out in pain
The naughty, nightly, nightmares I create
put regular old monsters to shame

Come closer I won't hurt you
I am as harmless as a kitten
Ignore the signs to "beware"
Don't worry you won't get bitten

Soon the sun will rise
The light will shine through my eyes
I will no longer frighten or terrorize
But don't be fooled, it's just a disguise
