He Above All

There was a sadness in her eyes
That weighed on his heart.
It was the fake smiles, silent lies,
That broke him apart.

Her fists twist into balls
When she angrily cries.
But he above all
Knows the horrors inside.

His touch, selfless and soft,
Anchors a raging sea.
When the lights flicker off
She can feel his eternal heart beat.

In his arms, safe and warm,
His is the only voice she hears.
The only words she can form
Are shed in quiet tears.

She lays herself at his feet,
For once without fear,
His breath and body heat
All she holds dear.
