Heart on a Sleeve

I wear my heart

on my sleeve

covered with broken trust

riddled with broken dreams

Sharp as the broken glass

Through which I fell

Grab it and squeeze

See what it will tell

Then let it go

does it hurt like Hell?

Do you feel the cuts?

Feel them run deep

I do. I feel them

In my dreams when I sleep

A heart in the open

Easy to grab and run

Then leave on the floor

Walk away when you're done

But just as easily

As you grabbed it from me

As easy as it was

To drop it and leave

The cuts on your hands that bleed

Won't heal; not so easily
