Heartstrings

Why do you evade me wretched twine?
Beautifully woven from intricate tales across the ages,
Yet you scorn and avert thou gaze,
A modern day medusa.
Hope dashed, now cold as stone,
Am I so cruel?
Laden with penance,
A path of woe,
Like a kite, you glide indirect kisses.
Intangible, you spiral from me.
Invisible faith, I see you not,
But there you loom, faceless.
Listless are the heartstrings that never bind.
Tormented with longing,
This dance of two,
I was to never attend the ball, after all.
