Heaven’s Brink

My mortal life is fading fast,
the earthly struggles nearly past,
and I will soon be homeward bound.
My feet just barely touch the ground
because I'm lifted up by grace.
All former sins it will erase,
and heaven's gates will open wide
revealing where the saints abide.

There is no sadness in my heart
but only joy for I will start
a pleasant trip through Beulah land
where every soul walks hand-in-hand
to meet the Father of us all,
attends the coronation ball,
and wears the crown of brotherhood
accepting only what is good.

I do not leave my friends behind
for they are always in my mind.
It is for them I leave this note.
It is my hope to bridge the moat
which separates the quick and dead,
and someday, when this note is read,
I ask my friends to pause and think
they're resting now on heaven's brink.
