Heaven’s Wedding

There will be a wedding once you get to Heaven.
After you see Jesus you will see me.
I will be the one wearing angel wings.
I will be standing up front with all our loved ones for you to see.

You will be wearing white and a smile that is so bright.
Your beauty will recapture my heart,
For you knew all along you had it from the start.
There will be the most beautiful flowers draped all around,
With pearls and diamonds cascading down,
While the angels sing their joyous sound.

There will be a wedding in Heaven,
Only in God's good time.
I will be waiting for you to journey down the aisle.
At that moment the church bells will chime,
As we finally get to say, "I do!"
For I have always loved you.

This Poems Story

This poem was inspired in memory of my son. My son Joshua was killed along with other fellow athletes from University of South Carolina Upstate (USC - Upstate). Joshua would always pretend he was proposing to his girlfriend Courtney. Courtney was out of state playing soccer for Upstate and Joshua's last text to anyone was to her before his accident. He told her that he loved her and they would marry one day. Unfortunately, this will never be, but their love story will continue once she arrives in Heaven. So, I dedicated this poem to them both. Their relationship was a true love story.
