Her Bucket List

With the twinkling blue eyes,
and the colour of the tender flesh akin to corn,
the trumpets in the background deliver a message,
‘Hurrah! A pious soul is born’.

As the body-hugging swaddle slowly unwraps,
the fairy tales fade and ambitions overtake.

She was taught,
from the young who bleeds,
till the adult who breastfeeds;
Shhh! Girls must be polite,
to live in society, respect is all you need.

She is different. Yes, she isn’t alike.
From scaling mountains to shout her name out loud,
to a profession that sets her apart from the crowd.

She is no more a prisoner,
of the definitions and norm.
She has now broken the glass ceiling
and could take any role or form.

Though she might not have achieved it all,
but her bucket list has got it all!
