Her Cautionary Tale

In my country is told a cautionary tale-
A tale of ancient women,
whose freedom is distant, the idea stale,
The cathartic idea of freedom.

In my country is worn a constant armour-
The same that served our mothers.
It's the land of the thief, the snake charmer
Ergo, no man is worthy of trust!

In my country is felt a shattering fear-
A screaming realization
that the women who've lived, and will live here
Will never taste sweet liberty.
