Her Colors


Ask her what her favorite color is.
Remember it. Search for it.
Yellow sun beams.
Green leaves.
Red mailboxes.
Blue puddles.
Orange lilies.
Purple stones.
Notice what she loves.
And where it is in the world.
Attach the idea of her
to everything you see.
How her laugh sounds like the wind by the lake.
How her eyes reflect like the taxi headlights in the rain.
How her hair is soft like the grass in the city park.
And how her skin looks like the whole milk your mother had you drink.
How she looks like the Earth,
But the Earth looks like her.
And how you wanted to explore every piece of it.
Every continent she held within her mind.
Just to find her favorite color.
