Her Demons

She was drowning, but nobody saw her struggle.
The stitching that held her up was flawed and unraveling.
She'd rather hide her demons than let them destroy everyone else.
Emptiness is what she felt the most, the numbness from head to toe.
It continuously made her push harder, be stronger
and fake a smile better.
She performed everyday with the perpetual heaviness.
Fighting this enormous war inside, everyone sees only a fraction.
The pain engulfs her being.
She thrives for someone to understand,
to accept her in the light and dark,
even in the duskiest corners of her mixed-up soul.
