Her Joy

Katie has a toy
It brings her lots and lots of joy
But Katie has to share
This she finds unfair
But she swallows her tears
Because of her fears
Of being too selfish to love
So she gives it a shove
And hands her joy away
Only wishing for it to stay
The other kids do not know
That this brings her heart so so low
As she hides in her room
Talking to voices about her doom
“So selfish I am”
She says as she gives her head a slam
And the pain won't go away
Until she has her toy to play
