Her Reality

No one ever sees
that behind the grin
is a little girl
who's broken.
That behind the light
in hazel eyes
is a tangled web
of deceit and lies.
That behind the confidence
in every movement
is fading hope
in a rusted tin.
That behind the grades
is a flurry of nerves
and that the pillowcase
holds dried tears.
That behind the beauty
is a mangled body image.
That behind the respect
there are words on her lips.
That behind her kindness
there's a burning fire.
That behind the perfection
there is a liar.
