Here

Here

to every moment we've had and never will

Here

to the chances we took and the moments we'll steal

Here

to every heart we've broken and every one we've had

Here

to every smile and every time we're sad

Here

to all the laughter and togetherness we shared

Here

to not giving up and showing we cared

Here

to every word we've said and the friendship that grew

Here

to telling secrets only sisters knew

Here

   to every time we fought

Here

to all the fireflies we caught

Here

to a future on your own

Here

is to how much you've grown

This Poems Story

I was inspired to write "Here" after my mom told me she was pregnant. Having been the middle child and only girl I was immediately angry. My thoughts were that what made me special in her eyes was going to disappear. Then I found out it was a girl. During my mother's previous two pregnancies I wished that there would be another girl for me to bond with when the boys were being boys. All I could think of from that point on was what sisterhood really meant and from that I wrote "Here," dedicated to my unborn sister.
