Here I Am

Here I am, send me.
The cry of the joyous soul
Reverberates around the world
Resounds louder with each cry.
One lays down his life to spread the Word,
Another takes his own and others' to gain Heaven
While the world watches in horror.
Here I am, send me!
But where will I go?
To the lands of the unsaved
To the wastelands of the East
To the tribes peacefully surviving
To the inner-city hatred
To bucolic suburbia.
Here I am, send me!
Starting here in my own home
Starting now in my own circle of friends
Starting deep within myself
To right wrongs and gain forgiveness
For spoken words of pain and envy
For deeds of self-interest done.
Here I am, send me!
