Hero for a Dad

I wish I was a little bird
So I could fly away;
I'd go to all the far off places
Where my daddy has to stay.

You see, my daddy is a hero
He protects the land we love,
Along with all his comrades,
Some of which are now above.

Each and every night you sleep
So peacefully in your bed,
My daddy you are there fighting
So the innocent don't end up dead.

I know that others need him
And I'll have to say goodbye,
But since it won't be forever,
I promised him I wouldn't cry.

"Don't be sad my little girl,
We'll never be apart.
No matter how far I travel,
We'll always be close at heart."

I wish I was a little bird
So I could fly with him someday;
Me with my wings, him in his jet,
I would bring him home to stay.
