Heroin

Blue and red flashing lights pulled up
Behind my mommy's car, tried to turn my
Bottled milk sour, tried to take the spark from my
Blue Hollywood eyes and shine from my
Brown wavy hair, suck the air from my
Balloon, the one that says Happy First
Birthday! The siren makes me fill my diaper
Bottom and I suck my thumb, filling my
Bib with slobber, for this night, my
Blankie is all that I have that I know and my teddy
Bear is all that I know that I have, my
Battle to stay awake, to know where we'll go
But a mind so small, an infant
Brain gives into a sleep and
Baby's elastic goes flat.
