Hesitant Company

You come and you go,
It isn't the first time your promises are left empty.
I never know if you'll stay.
Why am I surprised when you do?
Tears must be contagious-
They begin to stream down your cheeks,
Committing them to roll down mine.
Your words crack when spoken, you must be upset.
I want to believe that you're sorry,
Although I would just be lying to myself.
You beg for my company, and I hesitantly comply.
In the end, though,
No matter how happy we were in one another's presence,
You abandon me once more.
I must be naïve,
Maybe even dumb for letting you back in.
How can I say no to you? I love you, Daddy.
