Hickory Hill
When I was still a teen,
daddy had started dating again.
The sadness from losing mother was fading
and he was starting to put on a grin.
That trip to the lake is where it would begin.
No time was wasted, love quickly set in.
They had bought a house that sat on top of a hill,
To move in together, that was the deal.
The house sat on a few acres of land
Off the coast of the lake of the Tenkiller sand.
That was the place we called Hickory Hill
Down at the dock is where we would hang out and chill.
We would ride the yoyo down the tracks
That led to the dock, that wrapped around the shack
That took us there and back.
We would climb on the steps
that we would hang off the dock
We would stand straight up and do canon ball drops.
Sometimes we swam, sometimes we would fish
and if we seen a shooting star we made a wish.
Down at the dock is where we would hang out and chill
Oh, how I loved that place we called Hickory Hill.
