Hide and Seek

Fingers rolling against the glass.
Tap, tap, taaap, tap,
Bang!
The striking
Becoming urgent,
Hitting harder and harder against my window.
They want to play.
My paralyzed body dripping from my shower...
How do they always know?
My knees suddenly cinder blocks
Slam to the floor
I fall to one side and hug my shattered bones.
Carefully, slowly, I slide under my bed.
Please don't let them get in tonight.
I will my frantic, noisy breath to slow.
My body shakes violently
Rattling the floor,
My teeth.
My heart beating so hard it echoes against the cold tile.
My fear calling, "Here I am."
No need to add "if you can."
I already know,
They're going to catch me.
