Hide and Seek

Hide and Seek

And as we talk
You place each leaf and thorn
Around yourself
You lean back
Smiling at me from inside your construction

An animal trained to ferret out complacency
I circle your hedge, searching for an entrance
Not stopping to heed instinct
Which tells me your safety could become my prison.
