he was hiding in the shadows
so the darkness could conceal
he lay waiting for a moment
a moment far too real

passer-bys would pass by
nary a thought or glance
there was no way to find him
not even a chance

a steamy night
of heat and smoke
tho fires ceased to burn
enough rope, and you're bound to choke
and even wait your turn

the lines keep getting longer
a stronger urge emerges
people wait impatiently
to feel the power surges

and he's hiding, biding time
til the moment's right to strike
thru chaos and turmoil
the death count bound to spike

if forever is eternity
and never but a myth
he can hide in shadows endlessly
no one knows who he's with
