Highway Stage

The raspy voice
of David Gilmour echoes
"Wish you were here."
and memories of you
reverberate with it.

I remember
your heavy hands pounding
drum beats on dashboards
and the highways that were your stage.
Summer breeze blowing through
car windows carried your voice.
Now it is blown away.

A quick flick of the wrist
turns the volume down
but your voice
remains engrained.
