Take a deep breath and let the dust settle
A step forward
And a weight
Lands upon your chest
Knocking the breath out of you

You stare up at the plaster ceiling
Dust motes drifting down
A little girl
Slipping through eyes
Like sand through fingers
Runs down the stairs

The smell is different
But the look is the same
Though pieces are missing
It's missing the name
You wish you could leave it all behind
The pain and sorrow, the love that broke
The stitches that made this house a home
