Home

It was a long day at work; I can't wait to go home.
I get into the car and dial a number on my phone,
"Do you want anything for dinner, dear?"
A "yes!" followed by screams pierced my right ear.
"Alright, I'll be home soon." I said,
"These little monsters need to be fed."

It was a long day at work; I can't wait to go home.
I rang the doorbell, unable to grab the keys out of my purse,
I see one of them running towards the door with eager and thirst.
"Pizza!" She yelled, not a "Hi mom!" or a "Thanks mom!"
She grabbed the box and I shook my head, making a face palm.
"Well, hello to you too." I Whisper, as I put my things down.
I couldn't help but frown.

It was a long day at work; I can't wait to go home.
I smiled as I watched them eat,
Chewing and biting with their pearly-white teeth.
I sighed and made my way upstairs at a slow pace.
"Wait." The oldest said, moving her bangs out of her face.
"Thanks mom!" they said in unison and the frown was erased.
I contently sighed and pulled them into an embrace.

It was a long day at work; I can't wait to go home.
