Home With a Different Life

She hopscotched the stars
with hopes of reaching the moon.
Space's only sound:
her breath and heartbeat.

Encased in a marshmallow suit with a fishbowl head,
she dreamed of reaching a new galaxy
where the planets were a baseball game's bases,
each home to a different life.

The frigid moon atmosphere draws her near
as she jumps to and fro on sparkling light
yearning to be somewhere better.
