Honey laced words

To you his word were like sweet sweet honey
So sweet it rotted your teeth
So sweet you didn’t taste the poison
Because behind the honey was poison
The poison seeped out so slowly
Slow enough you didn’t even notice
Not til you were numb from the poison
The sweetest poison
So numb that even when the words were no longer covered in honey
Straight poison but you didn’t have the energy to fight anymore
You just let the poison soak in
And after a point you can’t tell the difference between honey and poison
But then again you are just so numb that not even real honey tastes as sweet
Because you have had so much poison that you just assume all words are poison
But you keep the hope in the back of your mind that maybe one day someone will show you there is still true honey in the world
Not just honey laced words
